Nightly news

The news that year
NASA-Hubble Telescope

had been so negative
that I didn't expect
the trees to bloom
I didn't expect
the flowers to turn
their petals to the
sun.

I didn't expect
the spring rains
nor the winter to give way
to warm climes
I was shocked
to see the bumble bees
again in flight.

Then when the grass
started greening
I knew I had to choose
between the thick aroma
of honeysuckle
or the nightly news.

I went with
the change of seasons
there before my eyes
the only news
I need in my life
comes at night
from the stars
in an open sky.
